Ritual over routine.

We believe coffee is more than caffeine — it’s a daily invitation to slow down, notice, and connect.

Born out of San Diego

San Diego is a place we call home. Our family has roots in Mexico and Japan. Our grandmother is Japanese, raised in Mexico, and our family made it their mission to pass down the cultures, values, and traditions from both sides of our heritage.

We are third-generation — our great-grandparents lived in Puebla and built lasting friendships with many Indigenous communities who would later become coffee growers. Today, their children and grandchildren are the people we continue to work with. After three generations, we see ourselves as stewards of story, land, and care.

What 'Encuentro' Means to Us

In Spanish, encuentro means “an encounter” or “a meeting.” Spiritually, it carries a deeper meaning — a moment of presence, recognition, or discovery.

To us, every cup is an encuentro— a meeting with yourself, with nature, with others.

The Roots of What We Do

Our mission is to share coffee grounded in respect—for the earth, for craftsmanship, and for the people who make this ritual possible. We strive to be the wholesaler and roaster who provides unique coffee profiles and supports others in their journey to source exceptional beans.

We are building our roastery in CA with the goal of facilitating and sharing natural and direct trade coffees from Mexico. This project is deeply personal to us, and we’ve ensured full traceability from the farmer to your door. Our facility brings together Q-graders, a roaster with over 20 years of experience, chemists, and agronomists who oversee every step of the process—from farm to roast—conducting daily cuppings to uphold quality and consistency.

Principles in Practice

Direct Trade & Transparency

We build honest relationships with growers and pay above-market prices for their work.

Ongoing Support for Coffee Growers

We offer hands-on support — from our agronomist to our baristas — to help improve yields and meet day-to-day needs on and off the farm.

Quality & Care

Every step, from seed to cup, is guided by high standards and deep intention.

Heritage & Craft

We honor ancestral knowledge, Indigenous growers, and the art of traditional processing.

Living with Intention

We move through life with purpose and respect — for the earth, for animals, and for one another.

Community & Healing

We believe in uplifting our community and creating space for healing, growth, and connection.
